LuSHHus Links - Savvy Auntie

SavvyAuntieBadgeFlower

Savvy Auntie is the "first community for cool aunts, great aunts, godmothers and all women who love kids."  If you spend time with children who belong to someone else, this may be a great resource for you.  Savvy Auntie offers:

  • suggestions for fun things to do
  • help and information on all kid-related matters
  • a community for people just like you
  • gift ideas for those young people in your life

As I browsed the Savvy Auntie website, I came across the Founder’s blog which I enjoyed.  One of the best entries, in my mind, was 20 Tips for the New Entrepreneur.  If you hope to start your own business one day or launch some other big venture, read this article.  You won’t be sorry.

LIVESTRONG.com - A Very LuSHHus Website

Livestrong website

I am very excited about the new website LIVESTRONG.COM, which is a site focused on changing your life.  I think you will find this website to be a trusted resource for daily health, fitness and lifestyle information (The Lance Armstrong Foundation partnered with Demand Media to launch this venture.)

The site includes some very useful tools such as The Daily Plate, a free food, calorie, and fitness tracker.

I also like the "Dare to" section that empowers you to make smart choices in your life or even dare a loved one to do so (examples: quit smoking, exercise regularly, get more sleep….)

Many well-known experts will offer their two cents on matters related to health and overall well being.  I loved reading Bobbi Brown’s article here

You will find all sorts of advice on health, food, exercise, balance, and more, so check out LIVESTRONG.COM for a more LuSHHus life.

Cheers!

Planning Parties Online

You have surely heard of evite and maybe you are familiar with mypunchbowl and sendomatic too.  They’re all decent online tools for planning a casual and/or last minute party.  Each service has pros: Sendomatic is ad-free, mypunchbowl lets you secretly designate certain invitees as VIPs, and evite enables you to create a talking party personality.  All of these sites are fun and easy to use.  However, if I were to use an online party planning site like this, I would probably choose pingg

pingg is an online invitation service offering outstanding images and designs for your invites.  These images are really better than average; I’ve selected a few I like and included them below.

Pingg Dice Pingg Burgers Pingg Bball

You can even upload photos to create custom invitations with pingg.  Other features of this site include money collection, detailed reports on RSVPs and page views, pdf creation, guest list management, and surroundSend which allows you to post your invitation on the web or send it via text message among other options.

I’d still choose a beautifully-crafted paper invitation for most events, but, in certain instances, these online invitation services fill our needs.  In those times, I will use pingg

The LuSHHus Green List

The LuSHHus Green List

I don’t claim to be 100% green or the biggest friend of the environment on the block, but I do try to make small changes and sacrifices whenever possible so as to be a good environmental citizen. In order to share some green things I love and some green things I want to try, I have created a list of products, services, and sites that are all eco-friendly and that are mostly stylish and LuSHHus. If you have any great green ideas that living a LuSHHus life readers can use, I’d love to hear from you.

Please check out The LuSHHus Green List in its entirety (see link below.)

Cheers!

Shine - A New Site For Women From Yahoo

Shine from Yahoo

Yahoo has just launched Shine, a new website billed as a "smart, dynamic place for women to gather, get info and to connect with each other and the world around them."  The site’s content is broken into nine categories that are pretty much what you’d expect from such a site: fashion + beauty, parenting, work + money, entertainment, love + sex, and so on.  Original articles as well as popular blog posts will be featured.  Although this idea is much like iVillage and Sk*rt, I found a few interesting reads on my first visit to Shine this morning and you might want to check it out.

Enjoy!

Never Forget to Send A Birthday or Anniversary Card Again

Jack Cards Logo

What if you could pick all the greeting cards you need online and could have them sent to your house at a set time pre-addressed and pre-stamped so all you have to do is sign them and drop them in the mail?  You can do all that with Jack Cards.  I recently learned about this company whose slogan is "connecting our world thoughtfully."  Membership is free, so you simply enter all the dates you wish to recognize, choose the cards you want for each occasion, pay for the cards and a nominal shipping fee (shipping is free with a $30 purchase), and  sit back knowing you’ll never miss another birthday again.

One of the greatest aspects of Jack Cards is that the card selection is top notch.  I picked three of my favorite cards to show you:

Jack Cards Happy Mothers Day

This Mother’s Day card is among the funniest I’ve ever seen.  The message inside says "If it’s any consolation my therapist assures me the mistakes you made in raising me were quite common."

Jack Cards Butterflies in Tummy

How about showing someone you love them with this visual depiction of love and infatuation.

Jack Cards Cinco de Mayo Card

Finally, if you want to commemorate Cinco de Mayo - and who doesn’t - check out this card that says "We have no cervesa, we have tequila, eets like cervesa."  I love it!

Cheers,

HWTM Orange and Chocolate Theme

My very favorite blogger has just reinvented her website called Hostess with the Mostess.  The new site was just launched yesterday!  Hostess with the Mostess has been around for a while, but now it’s new and improved with tips and ideas for all your entertaining needs.  The Entertaining 101 section is a must-read for any aspiring hostess, and you will get endless inspiration on what to gift every recipient on your list here.  There are theme ideas for every type of party imaginable; I especially love this orange and chocolate theme (pictured above).  Check this site out.  You will surely be impressed with the seemingly endless content (which is updated regularly) and the outstanding design of the site.
