It’s slow cooker week!  All of our recipes this week use the slow cooker.  I love using the slow cooker because I don’t have to cook dinner at the end of the day when everyone is tired and hungry!  Here is the list of dinners for the week of September 29, 2008, and each dish is linked to its recipe.

The Deluxe All-Clad Slow Cooker

Slow Cooker

The LuSHHus Dinner Plan will feature a whole week of slow cooker recipes next week.  If you don’t have a slow cooker, this is the one I’d recommend.  You can get it at Williams-Sonoma.  Its best feature is the cast-aluminum insert that lets you brown meat on the stove top before placing it in the slow cooker all without getting out a skillet.  I don’t have this but I want it!

The LuSHHus Dinner Plan for 8*4*2008

Dinner is Served

If you struggle with planning delicious and healthy meals each week, please tune in for a new weekly feature at living a LuSHHus life called The LuSHHus Dinner Plan.  Each weekend, visit living a LuSHHus life to obtain a list of five dinners with all the ingredients and directions.  Whether you make all the meals in The LuSHHus Dinner Plan or just pick one or two, I hope these suggestions make your life a little easier, healthier, and, of course, more LuSHHus.

Monday: LuSHHus Pasta with Salmon and Spinach - This dish is full of "super foods" that are healthy and tasty.  Mr. LuSHHus requested we have this once a week, so don’t be surprised if you see this on The LuSHHus Dinner Plan often.  I usually eat the leftovers, which are good cold or heated, for lunch the next day.

Tuesday: Chickpea and Romaine Salad with Lemon-Parmesan Vinaigrette - Try this easy and light salad for a quick weeknight dinner.  If your dinner table is full of hungry people, you may want to add some bread or a dessert to satisfy their hungers.

Wednesday - Turkey Burgers with Sweet Potato Chips and some fruit - You could buy ground turkey or frozen turkey burger patties or even make this turkey burger recipe which Oprah touted.  To make the sweet potato chips, simply slice a sweet potato very thin, spread the slices on a baking sheet, drizzle olive oil over the sweet potato, and bake at 375 for about 30 minutes.

Thursday - LuSHHus Oriental Salad - I remember eating this recipe growing up, and I still love it today.

Friday - Grilled Salmon with Mustard Sauce and Steamed Broccoli and some fruit - This salmon recipe, from Dr. Weil, is quite simple.  Steam some broccoli while the fish is cooking and add your favorite fruit for a delicious, well-rounded meal.
