I realized I have not seen many of the award-winning movies that are bestowed the Best Picture honors at the Oscars.  My husband and I have decided to watch each Best Picture winner, and I thought you might like to do the same.  Get started this weekend if you don’t have other plans.  Perhaps this is something you want to do alone or with your significant other.  Or, you could even partner with another couple or several friends and take turns hosting your very own series of Academy Awards movie screenings.  Without further ado, here is the list of all the Best Picture winners….  (Click on the link below for a printable version of the list complete with a check-off column.)

I have two types of looks in the life that I currently lead: my do-something look and my do-nothing look.  It really is pretty much that simple with the exception of some traveling, weddings, and other occasions.  My stay-at-home job description often has me doing nothing more than running to the grocery store, pool, or playground in a day.  But, that’s not to say that I don’t want to look put-together and stylish on those do-nothing days.  So when I am thinking about my wardrobe, I create outfits for both my fun going out days and the sometimes more fun staying in and playing days.  These first six looks are in my look book as ideas for going out and doing something this spring. 

And these outfits are for doing nothing.

I missed the Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday but I’m sure glad I checked her website for a review of the program.  The topic, in just a few words, was how to look better so you feel better.  In other words, Oprah and style maven Lloyd Boston helped a group of women look stylish without much fuss.  There were some great ideas on how to dress in chic, easy clothes.  I love this look which Boston put together at JC Penney.  You can get all the details here.

Another ensemble that caught my eye was this one featuring a tunic by Tory Burch and white jeans.  This is the type of effortless look that I love love love.  Click here to find out where to get these items.

What I really wanted to tell you about the show, though, was that Oprah and her style experts stressed the importance of a good white shirt.  We’ve all heard this before, I know, but I thought the show offered some chic ideas worth sharing.  I really liked the ways in which the essential white shirt was exhibited in the four different outfits below.  The versatility of this piece of clothing is obvious from these photos. 

The specific must-have white shirt for women that was mentioned on the show was the Brooks Brothers Non-Iron Fitted Shirt which I have been meaning to get for the longest time.  But whatever your favorite shirt is, that’s fine…go out and wear it in any number of ways…as long as it fits you well and is wrinkle-free!

My very favorite blogger has just reinvented her website called Hostess with the Mostess.  The new site was just launched yesterday!  Hostess with the Mostess has been around for a while, but now it’s new and improved with tips and ideas for all your entertaining needs.  The Entertaining 101 section is a must-read for any aspiring hostess, and you will get endless inspiration on what to gift every recipient on your list here.  There are theme ideas for every type of party imaginable; I especially love this orange and chocolate theme (pictured above).  Check this site out.  You will surely be impressed with the seemingly endless content (which is updated regularly) and the outstanding design of the site.
